PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Medical Librarian/Instructor; March 2007 – present; Lincoln Memorial University (LMU); Harrogate, TN
Provide reference assistance, collection development support, bibliographic instruction, and circulation support to the faculty, staff, students, alumni, and residents within the Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM) Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), Post-Bacalaureate Medical Science Program (PMSP), and Physician Assistant (PA) programs; LMU-DCOM opened in fall 2007. Prior to August 2009, also served the School of Nursing (ASN, RN-BSN, and MSN) and the School of Allied Health (Athletic Training, Kinesiology, Medical Technology, PreMed, and Veterinary Technology programs). Also served LMU’s PreMed program prior to January 2012. Set up trials, promote trials, review products, recommend purchases of electronic resources, and negotiate agreements. Make budget recommendations. Compile information; create and edit documents for self studies and accreditation visits; and, along with the Library Director, meet with accreditors. Update the medical library website. Participate in annual strategic planning processes. Participate in planning new residency consortium and a new CME program. Provide support to entire LMU community and supervise student workers during assigned hours on the reference desk. Taught fall 2008 Information Literacy course. Supervised summer 2011 intern. Supervised medical library paraprofessional who created medical library website prior to his promotion. Prior to fall 2011, oversaw aforementioned paraprofessional’s medical and allied health interlibrary loan tasks and processed requests as needed. Set up medical library upon arrival.
