Research Tips
Tips

Known item searching can be quick and easy if you use “field” limits in conjunction with the last name of the author, a meaningful word from the article title, and a meaningful word from the journal or source title, e.g., AU Smith AND TI Cancer AND SO New England. In this case, AU is the database command to limit to the author field, TI is the command to limit to the title field, and SO is the command to limit to the source (publication title) field. Note: commands for limiting to particular fields differ by database. Use the database’s help feature to learn what search commands it allows.
