Property Course Guide 2021-2022

Property Law Course Guide

Introduction

Introductory property law courses often begin with the study of common law (cases) or the origins of property law as we know it today. These cases serve to articulate a rule of law. Although these legal rules lay the foundation for the law today, property law is now largely created by statute. This means that when a legal researcher is researching property law, that researcher should begin by researching statutes. This guide illustrates that process by compiling primary authority sources and then directing the researcher to secondary sources. This guide also features Study Aids that students may find useful to supplement learning in law school courses.
