Find Articles in Major History Publications

LMU libraries provide full-text access to articles from many history journals and magazines The American Historical Review. You can access them one of two ways:

  1. Search the library's Full Text Journal Finder by title.
  2. Select "American Historical Review" from the list of results. It should be the first one. A list of three options should appear to the right. These are the companies that the library subscribes to The American Historical Review through. You will see that our subscriptions goes back farther with some than others. 
  3. From the list of options that appear to the right, select one of the three "American Historical Review" links.  Additionally, be careful when selecting a link as not all subscriptions contain the more recently published articles.  These will all take you to a new page where you can search the magazine like you would search a database.

Or:

  1. Search the library catalog for "American Historical Review." You will get a number of results, but you should only need the first one.
  2. From the first result, click on the green "Access Journal" button. A pop-up menu will appear with several links. These are the companies that the library subscribes to American Historical Review through. You will see that our subscriptions goes back farther with some than others. 
  3. From the list of options that appears in the pop-up, select one of the three "American Historical Review" links. These will all take you to a new page where you can search the magazine like you would search a database.

LMU libraries provide full-text access to articles from Journal of Interdisciplinary History. You can access them one of two ways:

  1. Search the library's Full Text Journal Finder by title.
  2. Select "Journal of Interdisciplinary History" from the list of results. It should be the first one. A list of options should appear to the right. These are the companies that the library subscribes to Journal of Interdisciplinary History through. You will see that our subscriptions goes back farther with some than others. The first link is the best as it provides access to the most articles. 
  3. From the list of options that appear to the right, select the second "Journal of Interdisciplinary History" link.  Additionally, be careful when selecting a link as not all subscriptions contain the more recently published articles.  This will all take you to a new page where you can search the magazine like you would search a database.

Or:

  1. Search the library catalog for "Journal of Interdisciplinary History." You will get a number of results that are not what you want.
  2. From the options on the left, narrow your search results down to "Journal, Magazine." Now it should be within the first three results.
  3. From the third result, click on the green "Access Journal" button. A pop-up menu will appear with several links. These are the companies that the library subscribes to Journal of Interdisciplinary History through. You will see that our subscriptions goes back farther with some than others. 
  4. From the list of options that appears in the pop-up, select the second of the links. This will all take you to a new page where you can search the magazine like you would search a database.

LMU libraries provide full-text access to articles from Presidential Studies Quarterly. You can access them one of two ways:

  1. Search the library's Full Text Journal Finder by title.
  2. Select "Presidential Studies Quarterly" from the list of results. It should be the first one. A list of options should appear to the right. These are the companies that the library subscribes to Presidential Studies Quarterly through. You will see that our subscriptions goes back farther with some than others. The first link is the best as it provides access to the most articles. 
  3. From the list of options that appear to the right, select the last "Presidential Studies Quarterly" link.   Additionally, be careful when selecting a link as not all subscriptions contain the more recently published articles. This will all take you to a new page where you can search the magazine like you would search a database.

Or:

  1. Search the library catalog for "Presidential Studies Quarterly." You will get a number of results that are not what you want.
  2. From the options on the left, narrow your search results down to "Journal, Magazine." Now it should be the first result.
  3. From the third result, click on the green "Access Journal" button. A pop-up menu will appear with several links. These are the companies that the library subscribes to Presidential Studies Quarterly through. You will see that our subscriptions goes back farther with some than others. 
  4. From the list of options that appears in the pop-up, select the last of the links. This will all take you to a new page where you can search the magazine like you would search a database.

LMU libraries provide full-text access to articles from many popular history journals and magazines. You can access them by:

  1. Search the library's Full Text Journal Finder by title.
    • Titles of popular history journals and magazines include but aren't limited to:
      1. Latin American Research Review
      2. American Antiquity
      3. Social Forces
      4. Political Geography
      5. Past & Present
      6. Theory & Society
      7. Archaeometry
      8. Europe-Asia Studies
      9. History and Theory
      10. Journal of Social History
  2. Select the title searched from the list of results.  A list of options should appear to the right. These are the companies that the library subscribes to the searched for journal through. You will see that our subscriptions goes back farther with some than others. 
  3. From the list of options that appear to the right, select one of the links. These will all take you to a new page where you can search the magazine like you would search a database.

LMU libraries provide full-text access to articles from many history journals and magazines. Even if you don't know their names, you can access them by searching the library's Full Text Journal Finder by title.  But instead of searching a specific title, you can just search "history" and it will generate a list of all journals that contain history within their title.  

Try this method using different terms such as historical, past, etc.
