Health Resources for Hispanic and Latin-Americans

Nursing & Medicine

  • CDC: Hispanic Health. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provides an overview of health trends impact Hispanics, prefacing the page with the phrase: "¡A la Buena Salud!"; or, "To Good Health!"
  • LULAC: Latino Health Disparities. League of United Latin-American Citizens provides information on the disparities, or 'differences' in health between Latinos in the United States compared to others. Contributing factors include class, economic status, and other social inequalities - including where one lives in the United States. 
  • HSS: OMH. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Minority Health website, catered to Hispanics and/or Latino-Americans. 
  • Medline Plus: Hispanic-American Health. This site provides information on common health concerns that can affect Hispanic Americans.
  • National Alliance for Hispanic Health. NAHH is dedicated to promoting health and the improvement of the quality of life for all members of it through medical research and practice, policies, and scientific discoveries.

Social Work & Counseling

NAMI: Latino Mental Health. National Alliance for Mental Health provides a section dedicated to psychological research on Latinos, emphasizing the barriers to them having successful mental health. Language barriers, combined with fears of discrimination, and other issues to consider regarding cultural competence are discussed.
